Data Collection Surveys  Fifth grade was my favorite - you're finally the top dog in you're elementary school and you haven't been exposed to all the drama that's just around the corner in sixth grade and beyond. I've always envisioned myself teaching fifth grade. The kids aren't too cool for you yet and they're at a sweet spot age when they're getting a good sense of who they are/what they enjoy doing. I think data collection surveys could be a really useful evaluative tool to keep students engaged. "The Flipped Classroom" I've only ever taken one online course and it didn't go so well. I was a junior in high school. The class was College Algebra. As you save the webpages, the bookmarks will sync across your devices so you can access them anytime, anywhere. Not only that, but Diigo makes it easy to organize your bookmarks by providing an option to categorize them by subject matter with hashtags. This feature comes in handy when you want to share your bookmarks with classmates, team members or fellow teachers. Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/ Pinterest is a great site that can be used as both a personal learning network for teachers and a creative space for anyone else who loves things like crafts, recipes and design. The possibilities are endless. You can go on there and post just about anything and you can also repost and organize other people's ideas onto your own boards. It's especially cool for teachers because they can use the pins as inspiration for decorating their classroom or creating lesson plans in ways that work for them and their students. ILP 1: Tech Showcase Clear Touch Interactive For my first independent learning project I went to the Tech Showcase after class on September 18th. They had a lot of cool stuff to show off from the Tech Sandbox - there was a 3D printer, virtual reality, laser keyboards, and many more high-tech gadgets that I had a hard time wrapping my head around. We're really living in the future, you guys, but I'm a simple gal. My favorite tech gadget they had was the Clear Touch Interactive (pictured above). It's basically a big, touchscreen computer. They've shown one in action on Grey's Anatomy. You don't have to be Meredith Grey to use this thing though! I'm not a surgeon by any means. I'm much more right brain (as you can see lol). Diigo  Diigo was pretty cool. Before we learned about it in class, I had no idea that social bookmarking was possible. It's definitely a plus as a teaching tool. Teaching is all about collaboration- if you use diigo for your lesson plans in the classroom, you'll have different materials from a whole bunch of different teachers to pick and choose from. That makes for more exciting instruction and less work for you, as the instructor! With all these materials floating around on the internet, diigo makes it easy to organize them and narrow them down with tags and categories.  Blogging  I dig the blogging in this class.
